Resumo

Biopolymers are easily found on a daily basis because they have a versatility of applications due to their properties of biodegradability and biocompatibility. Among these, it is possible to emphasize chitosan, a non-toxic polymer, biodegradable, biocompatible and produced through renewable natural sources. The pharmaceutical and biomedical industries being the main application areas of the same, due to its pharmacological action. Thus, this work has as general objective to obtain chitosan and chitosan membranes with neomycin sulfate, for the treatment of cutaneous lesions. The present work consisted initially of the characterization of the chitosan used, through the conductimetric titration, to determine the degree of deacetylation, the viscosimetry, the average molar mass of the polymer, and the solids content. Chitosan and chitosan membranes were then obtained with neomycin sulfate, which were characterized by solids content, the degree of swelling and degree of degradation. The results show that the membranes of chitosan with neomycin showed a lower degradation and lower stability when compared to the membranes containing only chitosan.
