Resumo

Historical heritage represents material or natural assets that have great importance in the history of society and that need to be preserved because they are very old constructions and represent an invaluable cultural wealth for local history. There are, however, abandoned buildings with inadequate maintenance and preservation that can lead to major deterioration and even ruin. In this way, the present work aims at an evaluation of the pathological manifestations in historic buildings, where buildings are susceptible to the development of several problems, and propose interventions that prolong the useful life of these structures. The methodology for the development of the study was based on the IBAPE building inspection standards and the literature review on types of pathological manifestations and main corrective measures that could be carried out without causing damage or jeopardizing the safety of buildings. With this we analyzed two historic buildings located in the city of Baturité, the first was the Comendador Ananias Arruda museum created in June 1981 and according to the administration, its construction is dated to approximately 100 years, and the second was the Railway Station, which was inaugurated on February 2, 1882, also being a century-old building. Thus, we arrived at results that showed us that in the museum Comendador Ananias Arruda we had an incidence of 27.3% of fissures, 18.2% of peeling and 18.2% of infiltration, already in the Railway Station we had 25% of infiltration, 15% of efflorescence and 10% of fissures, and it was verified that most of the pathological manifestations found were located in the coating element. Finally, the recommended solutions to the problems encountered were practically the same for the buildings visited.
