Resumo

This is paper aims to characterize the Cu-Al-Mn-Ti-B alloy by optical microscopy, Charpy impact test and Brinell Microhardness test. The alloy in question was made using conventional casting methods and the raw meltblown was machined into four specimens of dimensions conforming to ASTM E23-16b. Then, homogenization and quenching treatments were performed, respectively, for Brinell hardness tests (according to ASTM E10-18), optical microscopy and impact tests, respectively. All the programmed objectives were achieved: obtaining refined grains, with grain size six times smaller than the Cu-Al-Mn ternary alloy grains, using Ti and B as refining alloying elements, a 21.6% increase in the hardness of alloy in relation to the ternary alloy and low energy absorption in the impact test, resulting in fractures with fragile characteristics.
