Resumo

Form memory alloys have a wide range of possible applications, either simple applications or even more complex applications. Among the various types of applications stand out applications in medical, dental, thermostats among several others. The objective of this paper was the design and characterization of alloys with form memory of the Cu-Al system containing beryllium and titanium-boron in the following percentages: Alloy 1 Cu-88.2% Al-11.8%, alloy 2, Cu- 87.6% Al-11.8% Be-0.6% and alloy 3, Cu-87% Al-11.8% Be-0.6% Ti-0.5% B-0.1% by weight). The alloys were prepared in an oven under a thermally treated environment and then characterized by optical microscopy and Brinell hardness tests. It was possible to verify that the addition of small amounts of B changes the transformation temperatures due to the change in the matrix composition and consequently the hardness. The Ti, forms precipitates that inhibit grain growth.
