carcass of lambs, as well as to identify which diet is most appropriate for the production of sheep meat. Fifteen male, uncastrated sheep, Dorper mongrel, at 4 months of age, were confined in collective pens for 40 days. Three different diets were used, control: 100% concentrated and with 6% inclusion of residual oil. The control diet and the diet with 6% residual oil were complete with bulky (tifton hay) and concentrated in the ratio of 60:40, delivered daily at 8:00 am and 4:00 p.m. Morphometric measurements were taken during the confinement period: sledge height, rump height, thoracic perimeter and body length for carcass evaluation. There was a significant difference (P <0.05) for dry matter intake and weight gain among the treatments, so that the animals that received a diet with 6% inclusion of residual oil had higher consumption. For hot and cold carcass weight, there was a significant difference (P> 0.05), with the 6% oil and control treatments being statistically similar and both differing from the 100% concentrate ration, in this way the 6% oil ration and control were they stood out. There was a significant difference (P> 0.05) in the thoracic perimeter of the hot and cold carcass, so the treatment with 6% oil inclusion was highlighted, and it could indicate that animals with higher thoracic perimeters also presented higher body weights at slaughter and weights of hot housing. It was observed that the animals of the 100% grain treatment had no significant difference (P> 0.05), this result was probably due to the fact that in the 100% concentrated treatment the animals did not have access to an effective fiber source, your muscle gain. Therefore, it can be concluded that the 6% residual oil diet was the most indicated in the conditions of this study.
