Resumo

The Maria da Penha Law (MPL) is an important normative framework for the protection of women from domestic and family violence in Brazil. As a result of the struggles of the Brazilian women's and women's movement, the MPL faces a series of obstacles that jeopardize its effectiveness in the country. Considering the need to protect women, the present study sought to analyze the main difficulties encountered in the scope of the Special Domestic and Family Violence against Women Court in the in the region of Mossoró / RN in the application of the Maria da Penha Law, using a Feminist look. To do so, the methodology adopted by the research consisted of two moments: interviews with the servers and, later, the analysis of processes in process in the Special Domestic and Family Violence against Women Court. For a better understanding of the research, initially, in the theoretical field, we talk about the main historical highlights that influenced the creation of the Maria da Penha Law, as well as the judicial controversies that this faced when being sanctioned. Next, we deal with the specificities of the report of the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry created to investigate irregularities on the fulfillment of the Maria da Penha Law at national and state level, within the scope of Rio Grande do Norte. After the theoretical discussions related to the theme, we turned to the analysis of data from the processes and interviews, in order to identify the main difficulties faced by the Special Domestic and Family Violence against Women Court in the region of Mossoró. At the end of the research, the main impediments to the correct implementation of the law in the city were found.
