Data from traffic accidents of Mossoró-RN, contained in 4,745 incident reports, that were recorded at public establishments, such as SEMOB and DPRE, were collected, digitized and converted into a GIS format, and from this, the object of the study was to design maps, processing and extraction of information, such as geographical location of higher incidence, and the profile related to accidents, concluding that, mostly occur in the center of the city, and in the main access roads to this center, on weekdays, at the start, interval and end of business work shifts. The kind of transport modes most involved in accidents was also questioned, this information was separated into accidents with and without victims, and a quarter of these accidents contained information of people with injuries, 86% of those victims were either riding or passengers of motorcycles, which needed medical support. Information was also obtained from the public health care, about hospital admissions resulted from traffic accidents, and then cross-referenced, to obtain an overview of the expenses with orthopedic trauma surgeries in accident victims, funded by brazilian public health care system, SUS. Most part of the costs with hospital admissions that were found, follow the trend of the types of vehicles involved, and were invested in accident victims involving motorcycles, 91% of the total found was for this type of occurrence.
