Resumo

Increasingly, the organizations have been concerned with ensuring internal security, either it can be physical or information security. In this way, several companies and institutions use access control systems to manage the flow of people and/or objects, in order to allow access only by authorized persons. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology is a wireless automatic identification method that uses radio waves to remotely retrieve data stored in devices called tags. This technology has applications in many fields such as access control systems, stock control, electronic toll collection system, animal tracking, etc. Currently, the Federal Rural Semiarid University (UFERSA - Mossoró Campus) still uses a manual access control system for managing people, which requires a worker to register, through notes, the entry of people to the institution. This method generates slowness and human failures in the authentication process. In this context, the present work presents the development of a prototype of access control, using RFID technology and the Arduino electronic prototyping platform, for automation of the UFERSA access control system (Mossoró Campus), as well as cost and implementation analysis.
