Letramento científico: uma análise do uso social dos conhecimentos construídos nas ciências naturais e matemática

Resumo

At this present moment of society the scientific matters are sometimes discussed without any scientific basis, it is clear that it is no longer possible to teaching only aims to memorize concepts and formulas, but to build a learning in which students can, among other things, use school knowledge in their everyday life for the best. The present work discusses elements that can guide the construction of scientific literacy (SL) skills by the students of the integrated high school of the IFRN campus Pau dos Ferros. The research beggins with discussions about the theme, authors such as Shen (1975), Norris and Phillips (2003), Fourez (1997), Mamede and Zimmermann (2005), Santos (2007), Soares (2016) that debates about the SL, the use of school knowledge, especially of scientific nature, by students in their social life outside the school environment. In order to verify the quantity of academic productions on the subject, a state of the art was realized on the subject. With the research, a significant number of the most diverse productions were verified, articles, works presented in events, dissertations, theses and works of completion of specialization courses. It was also noted that there were no papers about SL in the context of integrated high school education in vocational and technological education, thus giving a character of novelty to this dissertation, even more because it was developed in the IFRN. Subsequently, an analysis was made on the main documents of the institution, with the objective of finding methodological indications for teachers to base their practices in order to build SL skills. The documents analyzed were the Political Educational Project “Projeto Político Pedagógico (PPP)”, the Work Proposals of the High School “Disciplines Propostas de Trabalho das Disciplinas do Ensino Médio (PTDEM)” and the Pedagogical Projects of the Courses “Projetos Pedagógicos dos Cursos (PPCs)”. The documentary analysis followed the methodology of Bardin (2011) and a significant amount of document cuttings that can help the teachers to realize their actions to try to construct in the students the SL. Finally, to assess whether the typical skills of those who are scientifically literacy were being built on students, the Test of Scientific Literacy Skills (TOSLS) by Gormally, Brickman and Lutz (2012) was applied. The number of correct answers and errors of the questions showed that someSL skills are being well developed in the students, but others need more attention and should be better worked on. It should be noted that the present dissertation has no supervisory character or tries to look for culprits because of the results, the intention is to cause reflection on all actors involved in the teaching and learning processes so that the IFRN always continues to offer a quality education, training integral and emancipatory human being in its students
