Resumo

Several factors influence the learning of deaf studentsand the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) is a fundamental element in this process. The use of visual aids in the education of the deaf is extremely relevant for learning, helping with interpretation and meanings. With this, this research proposes a conceptual model of tool, working as a mediating and facilitating resource in the education of deaf students. To achieve this general objective, the following specific objectives were defined: (I) assessing the needs of teachers in the field of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and an interpreter of Libras in their teaching practices in the 2nd grade class of high school, formed by deaf and listeners from the state school in Icapuí-CE; (II) assessing deaf students in their learning practices; (III) evaluating tools (digital and analog) already used; (IV) conceiving a conceptual model based on the needs listed by the research subjects. Regarding the method, a qualitative case study was carried out with two deaf students, an interpreter and four teachers from a high school located in the city of Icapuí, in the state of Ceará. Semi-structured interviews were applied, carried out individually and in a focus group, which were examined through content analysis. A usercentered design process was also performed to build the conceptual model of the tool. As results, the following artifacts were produced: personas, problem and activity scenarios, description of features, information flows and screens sketches of the called Consulta Libra application model. Regarding the main contributions of this research, it proposes a new support tool for improving the performance in teaching and learning within the classroom and for other school spaces, in other words, an easy-to-use tool that can provide interaction among teachers, interpreters and deaf students, breaking down the barriers of communication
