Resumo

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects substitution of forage of sorghum by cashew bagasse dehydrated at the time of ensiling on performance, carcass characteristics and feedlot lambs meat. Were used 32 male sheep, not castrated and crossbreed of breeds Morada Nova (½) and Santa Inês (½), with an average initial body weight of 15.1 ± 0.71 kg, confined and with 14 days of adaptation. The experimental diet consisted of silage prepared with 0; 8; 16; 24% of dehydrated cashew bagasse (DCB) replacing the forage of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) at the time of ensiling, offered in two daily meals, being allowed a daily surplus of at most 10%, without providing concentrate supplementation. It was determined the chemical composition of the supplied silages, orts and feces, to determine the dry matter intake (DMI) and nutrients and their digestibility, and measured the total weight gain (TWG) and diary (DWG) and feed conversion (CA). The slaughter of animals occurred at 120 days of confinement, being measured all components not carcass integrants, the hot carcass weight (HCW), cold carcass weight (CCW) and the weight loss in the cooling (WLC). The pH was measured after slaughter (pH0h) and the cooling (pH24h) in the Longissimus lumborum. After cooling, the half carcass is divided into five part (neck, shoulder, ribs, loins and leg) were individually weighed, and the separated loin to perform the color analysis (System CIE L * a * b *), the water holding capacity (WHC), weight loss in cooking (WLC), shear force (FC), moisture, ash, protein and lipids. The design adopted was completely randomized, data were submitted to analysis of variance and the effect of the replacement levels assessed by regression analysis at 5% significance. The replacement the forage of sorghum by BCD allowed the maintenance of the characteristics and carcass regional composition, the weights of the components not carcass integrants and the quality of meat, favoring meat production with lower levels of lipids, using levels 8 and 16% dehydrated cashew bagasse. It was observed that the replacent levels of 8 and 16% of forage of sorghum by cashew bagasse used decreased dry matter intake and nutrients, and the total weight gain and diary. The silage containing BCD (8, 16 and 24%) promoted improvement in digestibility of dry matter and nutrients in relation to sorghum silage (0%), and the use of silage containing 24% BCD provided the best results economic between the tested diets being recommended, therefore, the replacement of 24% of by BCD fodder sorghum at the time of ensiling
