Os desafios da lesbianidade no meio rural

This monographic work sought to analyze how lesbian rural women live, how they are seen, and what spaces they occupy in rural communities, with the following specific objectives: 1) to analyze the process of acceptance and/or denial of the experience of lesbian women's sexuality by part of the family members; 2) know the spaces they frequent in the community; 3) identify what types of prejudice they suffer. To enrich this work, we count on the contribution of some theorists that allowed us to understand the key concepts for this work, such as: Falquet (1970) discusses sexual diversity, Foucault (1984) and Heilborn (1999) who discuss sexual diversity. history of sexuality; Heller (2011) who discusses prejudices; Rich (2010) discusses compulsory heterosexuality and lesbian existence; Swain (2004) who discusses women who love and desire women; Camurça and Silva (2013), discusses the importance of social movements; Almeida (2010), Delphy (2015), Nascimento (2017), who deal in their studies on patriarchal family models; Medeiros (2017) who discusses ruralities and their new meanings. As for methodology, the research followed first with field research, of a qualitative nature, based on the contributions of Minayo (2001) and Martins (2004) who discuss qualitative methodology and social research. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews with 5 (five) women from different rural communities. Based on this study, it is possible to affirm that the experience of lesbianism in rural areas does not have a higher or lower level of prejudice than in urban areas, but in each case there are challenges to break with heteronormativity as a model for experiencing gender identities and sexuality.
