| dc.description.abstract2 | The growing use of photovoltaic systems requires DC-DC converters capable of operating efficiently under variations in load and irradiance. In this context, this work develops the modelling and simulation of a modified SEPIC converter with a voltage multiplier cell and Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) control, aiming at applications in photovoltaic systems with an output voltage close to 380 Vdc. Initially, a theoretical study of classic converter topologies, conduction modes, and voltage boosting techniques is carried out, establishing the basis for the proposed topology design. Next, the converter components are calculated and their behaviour is analysed through simulations in PSIM software, both in the ideal configuration and when coupled to a photovoltaic module. The results indicate strong consistency between analytical and simulated values for voltages, with differences of less than 1 V, in addition to the natural identification of internal current discrepancies resulting from the numerical dynamics of switching. With the photovoltaic panel, the converter demonstrated stable operation compatible with the theoretical point. The implementation of MPPT, based on the perturb and observe technique, significantly increased the power extracted under conditions of 800 W/m² and 500 W/m², recovering up to 229 W in relation to fixed cycle operation, in addition to improving voltage and current levels. In irradiance transitions, the control also showed the ability to quickly reposition the operating point, reducing energy losses. Thus, the modified SEPIC converter with MPPT demonstrated high performance, greater energy efficiency, and behaviour consistent with the analytical model, presenting itself as an efficient alternative for integration into medium-sized photovoltaic systems. | |
