| dc.description.abstract2 | Over the years, there has been an increasing increase in the occurrence of stroke cases, due to the increase in the elderly population. Current data indicate that stroke is one of the main causes of death and disability worldwide, affecting millions of people and leaving survivors with numerous consequences, whether physical or mental. In its initial phase, a stroke may present indicative signs even before it occurs. Among these indicative signs, numbness in a part of the body, mental confusion and difficulty speaking or understanding are the most common. Early identification of these signs is extremely important, reducing the patient’s risk of instant death and the risk of disabilities that can significantly affect their life. Many factors such as diabetes, smoking, high blood pressure and others can also contribute to the onset of stroke, which increasingly increases mortality rates, making it necessary to know these factors to contribute to early preventive measures. In the literature, artificial intelligence techniques are widely studied as parameters for predictive systems to assist in the early identification of stroke. Among these techniques, Machine Learning (ML) are recommended in predictive systems. Therefore, the objective of this work is to present an intelligent predictive tool based on AM to assist healthcare professionals in diagnosing patients prone to having a stroke, especially in preventing risk factors and indicative signs. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was carried out and a significant number of studies were identified that used predictive approaches to assist in the diagnosis of stroke. In this study, the PyCaret library was used to select the best algorithm among 14 options, highlighting Random Forest as the best algorithm. After this, attributes with less importance for the model were identified and three new databases were created: Base21, Base16 and Base11. Base21 stood out with accuracy, precision, f1-score and recall of 90.74%, AUC of 0.97 and kappa of 0.84. Finally, a web application was developed to exemplify the practical usefulness of the model. This application was tested by healthcare professionals, producing notable and relevant results | |
