| dc.description.abstract2 | The use of saline water and systems that optimize this resource, such as drip irrigation, represent an attractive alternative for living with water scarcity. However, poor water quality affects the efficiency of drip irrigation systems, as they tend to clog the emitters through the accumulation of clogging agents, which can be of chemical, biological or physical origin. Therefore, it is necessary to study and analyze the causes and effects of the clogging process, requiring the application of mathematical, statistical and computational theories and tools that facilitate the approach and understanding of this complex dynamics, involving variables distributed in the temporal and spatial dimensions of the process of irrigation. In this context, the objective of this work was to apply and evaluate statistical and mathematical techniques to analyze the average flow rate and the indicators of obstruction distribution uniformity coefficient (DUC) and relative flow rate reduction (RFR) in dripping units operating with dilutions of brackish water. For this, a simulation of an irrigation system with non-self-compensating drippers was carried out, which was configured in a completely randomized design in a sub-subdivided plot scheme with three replications, having in the plots the three dilutions of brackish water (BW) in supply water (SW) (D1 - 100% of SW; D2 – 50% of SW plus 50% of BW; and D3 - 100% of BW); in the subplots, the three types of non-self-compensating drippers (NJ, SL and ST); and in the sub-subplots, the evaluation times (0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140 and 160 h). At the beginning, middle and end of the experimental period, chemical parameters were quantified in the dilutions: pH, EC, Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+, CO32-, HCO3-, total suspended solids (TSS) and total dissolved solids (TSD). The data obtained were subjected to Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA), post-hoc test and supervised classification, using the free language Python 3.0, classification of images generated by electron microscopy of scanning (EMS) using Argis and fractal theory. The results indicated that the dilution and type of emitter explain the dynamics of the clogging process, in which there was increasing level of obstruction with an increase of salinity in the irrigation water. The lowest levels of obstructions occurred in the control treatment (100% SW) with the ST emitter, where the results indicate that fewer particles were produced with the largest average areas, as well as the lowest percentage of empty space occupation. The SL/D3 combination provided greater potential for obstruction, with a reduction in initial DUC from 93% to 68%; however, the combinations least affected by clogging were SL-D1 and NJ-D2, both ending the tests with a DUC of 90%. Regarding the RFR indicator, the combinations that showed the highest levels of obstruction (40%) were ST-D2, SL-D2 and SL-D3 at the end of the tests and the combination least affected by clogging with an RFR of 25% at the end was SL-D1. The post-hoc test applied to the data indicates that there was a statistically significant variation in the DUC and RFR coefficients over the times 0 to 160 h and 80 to 160 h, with no statistically significant variation from 0 to 80 h; In the case of pH, the results show that it fluctuated over time. Finally, electrical conductivity was not influenced by the time of evaluations, but there was a significant relationship with the dilutions. | |
