| dc.description.abstract | A cistite intersticial felina (CIF) é uma condição dolorosa que geralmente se manifesta de maneira crônica e recorrente, cuja causa exata ainda não é completamente compreendida. A doença é mais comum na forma não obstrutiva do trato urinário inferior dos gatos, mas também pode ocorrer na forma obstrutiva. Os sintomas mais frequentes incluem polaciúria, disúria, estrangúria e mudança no comportamento. Gatos obesos, sedentários, estressados, ansiosos e que possuem uma rotina monótona são animais predispostos a apresentar CIF. Buscou-se neste trabalho revisar a literatura existente sobre CIF, focando nos conceitos da doença, nos tratamentos convencionais, nas terapias complementares e nas alternativas disponíveis. Seu objetivo foi auxiliar no manejo das crises agudas e crônicas, visando melhorar o bem-estar dos animais e prevenir recorrências. Constatou-se que as terapias alternativas podem ser eficazes na prevenção de recaídas, atuando através de mecanismos que reduzem a ansiedade e o estresse. Algumas dessas terapias têm efeitos semelhantes aos tratamentos convencionais, como ação analgésica, anti-inflamatória, antiespasmódica e antidepressiva. Embora as terapias alternativas demandem mais pesquisa científica, podem ser usadas como complementares ao tratamento convencional. | |
| dc.description.abstract2 | Feline interstitial cystitis (FIC) is a painful condition that usually manifests itself chronically and recurrently, and whose exact cause is not yet completely understood. It is the most common non-obstructive disease of the lower urinary tract in cats, and can also occur in an obstructive form. The most common symptoms include frequent urination, difficulty urinating, urinating in small amounts and changes in behavior. Cats with FIC are typically obese, sedentary, stressed, anxious and have a monotonous routine. This work sought to review the existing literature on ICF, focusing on the concepts of the disease, conventional treatments and available complementary and alternative therapies. The objective was to assist in the management of acute and chronic crises, aiming to improve the animals' well-being and prevent recurrences. It was found that alternative therapies can be effective in preventing relapses, acting through mechanisms that reduce anxiety and stress. Some of these therapies have effects similar to conventional treatments, such as analgesic, anti- inflammatory, antispasmodic and antidepressant actions, in addition to reducing substance P and inhibiting crystalloids, but with less impact on the body. Although alternative therapies require more scientific research, they appear to be effective in treating FIC and can be used as a complement to conventional treatment. | |
