Abstract
In the present, not unlike other times the quality of the cold water distribution facilities, has a direct impact on the welfare and quality of life of the populations. In the meantime, the advancement of knowledge in civil engineering has noted prominence, with special attention to the great insertion of computational technology in the routine of the civil engineer, translated into a reduction of time in the activity of designing, increase of Accuracy and achievement of more promising results. In this sense, the present work has proposed to develop a software written in VBA language integrated into the Microsoft Excel application, focused on the sizing of cold water distribution facilities. In view of what was conceived, the results obtained can be considered satisfactory, considering that examples employed for the comparison between the reports generated by the software and the manual calculations, unveiled to the final small Variations, from the order of third decimal place to the speed loss of load and pressures, without divergences in the diameter measurements in any of the stretches. In The second example, differences of greater significance were verified in the software report, presenting measures of higher diameter when compared to the manual calculation, a phenomenon recorded in only one of the total of 12 excerpts. However, in the face of the variations found by comparison, the results issued by the software are acceptable, since the requirements of NBR 5626:1998 are met. Therefore, an easy-to-manipulate, free instrument is available, and therefore accessible to students and professionals, executable on any machine that has Microsoft Excel, a widely available application on the market, with costs of Relatively low licence. Finally, it is necessary to use more sophisticated tests to attest its reliability for the calculation of complex installations.
