Abstract
Medicinal plants with therapeutic properties are widely used around the world. The cashew tree (Anacardium occidentale L.) is originally from Brazil, being widely used in folk medicine in the Northeast region. In this study, different extraction techniques (hydrodistillation, Soxhlet, maceration and ultrasound), two solvents (ethanol and hexane) and different operational conditions were used to quantify the extract content obtained from the cashew tree leaves. Among the extraction conditions investigated, the extraction in Soxhlet extractor, with ethanol as solvent for a period of four hours, obtained the highest yield, presenting an extract content of 19.74%.
