| dc.description.abstract2 | The increase in biodiesel production has generated a significant amount of its byproduct, crude glycerin, and it is necessary to analyze measures to reuse it in order to contribute to the circular economy. Hydraulic fracturing is a method that pumps a viscous fluid at high pressure in order to create fractures in the area around the well in order to stimulate the production of hydrocarbons. The objective of the study was to propose the application of crude glycerin in the formulation of hydraulic fracturing gels and to evaluate its viability for acting in the well stimulation method. The gel was produced using a polymer (hydroxypropylguar - HPG), crude glycerin and other additives necessary to form the gel. All reagents were added to a Hamilton Beach shaker for homogenization. To evaluate the gel, viscosity, turbidity and mass loss analyses were performed. To obtain and interpret the results, Statistica Software version 8.0 was used, making it possible to obtain the effects, Pareto diagram and response surfaces. The results obtained showed that increasing the glycerin concentration promotes an increase in apparent viscosity, for systems with 1 lb/bbl of HPG, and in turbidity. Furthermore, the apparent viscosity was not significantly influenced by the parameters evaluated within the intervals used when there was variation in the breaker. On the other hand, with regard to turbidity, it was observed that the lowest turbidity value was obtained for higher concentrations of ammonium persulfate and for higher temperatures, a favorable condition for a hydraulic fracturing gel. Thus, it was observed that crude glycerin has potential to act in the well stimulation method. | |
