Abstract
This research aims to identify the economic-financial viability of milk production in the Semi-arid Region Potiguar in the Municipality of Upanema-RN. For this, the quantitative method was used, with emphasis on multi-index methodology for investment analysis. Its development was verified through a case study, with a descriptive approach. Its achievement was possible through the application of a semi-structured interview, in which points were discussed such as: initial investment, demand expectation, production costs and sale price. The collected data were analyzed and discussed according to the triangulation strategy of the procedures: interview, documentary research and direct observation. The methodology used is based on obtaining and analyzing return indicators and perceived risks. In this perspective, two sets of indicators were identified: the indicators of return, VP (Present Value), VPLa (Annual Net Present Value), IBC (Benefit Index / Cost) and ROIA (Additional Return on Investment); As well as those related to the perception of investment risk: TMA / TIR, PayBack / N, Degree of Revenue Commitment, Management Risk and Business Risk. After analyzing the project, considering a period of 10 years, there was an Additional Return on Investment (ROIA) of 28.05% per annum, above the almost risk-free rate; Already considering the business risk and the GCR, an average risk for the development of the project was verified. Based on all the indicators studied, it is recommended, therefore, the implementation of the milk production project in the city of Upanema / RN.
