Abstract
With the evolution of materials in civil construction, it is necessary to study new combinations of materials in order to improve the mechanical properties of structural components, which involve resistance to environmental conditions, high temperature and stiffness. The main objective of this study was to analyze the structural behavior of a composite composed of Carbon Fiber laminated with Epoxy resin and Wood Balsa, forming a structural component, idealized as a biapoiada beam, evaluating tensions of rupture, making a comparative between data obtained in the literature and practical data. For this, a practical experiment involving a structural component composed of carbon fiber and balsa wood, with an average cross-section of 25 x 50 mm and a length of 550 mm was set up. He submitted the structural part to the flexural test, adding central loads gradually. It was evaluated that the Carbon Fiber composite behaved as expected, presenting flexural stress close to the compression stresses presented in the literature, thus guaranteeing the correct use of the calculation methods used and the good relation between the theoretical resistance and the resistance practice of the compound, mainly of the Carbon Fiber.
