Abstract
The aim of this work was search for an efficient methodology for termorretification process of Caatinga species: Angico (Anadenanthera colubrina), Jurema Preta (Mimosa tenuiflora), Imburana (Bursera leptophloeos) and Embiratanha (Pseudobombax marginatum), using Pinus sp as reference. From each species, 12 specimens were produced with 2 x 2 sectional area and length between 5 and 10 cm, adding up to sixty specimens. The samples were submitted to three different treatments of termorretification. The first one was placed in an autoclave for 3 hour long and then oven at 100ºC for 24h. In the second treatment, the samples were placed direct into the oven at 160ºC for 3h. In the third treatment, the samples were taken to the oven at 180ºC for 3h. After that, it was calculated the basic specific gravity of the species. Based on the tests' results, it was possible to observe: Caatinga woods considered heavy (specific gravity above 0.8 g/cm³), the termorretification with temperatures until 180ºC didn't affect the basic specific gravity. As for specific gravities of Caatinga woods considered light (specific gravity bellow 0.5g/cm³), they were positively affect by termorretification at 130ºC in autoclave and at 180ºC in oven.
