Abstract
This work presents a study on the microstrip antennas with the use of Archimedes spiral-shaped patch. The spiral topology presents the characteristic of operation, in microstrip antennas, in multiband, that is, it is able to resonate in more than one range of frequency of operation. In this way it diversifies the operation of the antennas and allows the application in many bands. The work also presents the study of frequency reconfigurability and polarization of microstrip antennas. The reconfigurability dynamizes the operation being possible to choose the resonant frequencies to be used in a given service using electronic switching such as: PIN diodes and MEMS keys. In addition to the reconfigurability, the broadband characteristic was also worked with the removal of conductive material in the ground plane. The antennas were simulated and constructed to compare the results expected in this study in relation to resonance frequency, bandwidth, polarization and the behavior of the radiation diagram of each of the antennas
