Resumo

The present work deals with an evaluation of the data available in the National Sanitation Information System - SNIS, with emphasis on the application of these indicators to analyze physical losses and on the contributions of these indicators to mobilize corrective actions to minimize losses. The main objective of this work is to analyze the quality of the data that the concessionaires make available in the SNIS regarding physical losses. This is justified by the high level of losses in Brazil's water supply systems, which is around 40%, and the loss indicators are an important tool to reduce these high levels of losses. To accomplish this work, a bibliographic survey was carried out in order to find proposals for more practical and different indicators than those proposed by the IWA, in addition to an in-depth study on the indicators available in the NHIS and from these studies the quality of these data was evaluated. The conclusions that could be drawn from the study were that the indicators provided by the SNIS have utility in the comparison between systems, but due to their generality they are deficient when it is desired to draw conclusions for structuring actions to improve the physical loss indexes.
