Resumo

The theme of violence against women is very recurrent in today's society. In Brazil, the rates of violence against this portion of the population have increased considerably over time. There are several forms of manifestation of violence against women, among which are physical, sexual and psychological, which, in turn, does not occur in isolation and are related to each other. Because it is such an important social issue, it cannot be relegated. Thus, in view of the increase in practices of violence against women, the legislature created legal instruments of the utmost importance that deal with this theme in order to preserve the most basic rights of women by combating gender-based violence, which highlights the situation of inequality existing in today's society. Some of these instruments were Law No. 11,340 / 2006, better known as the Maria da Penha Law and Law No. 13,104 / 2015, or the Femicide Act. From this perspective, this article seeks to discuss and analyze the problem of violence against women in the short fictional narrative "Come see the sunset", by Lygia Fagundes Telles and how this violence is built in the story.
