Resumo

Clutches have the function of transmitting the force of the engine to the gearbox of the vehicle, and will drive that force to the wheels of the vehicle. The operating principle of the braking and clutch systems consist of two or more bodies which are pressed together and slide against each other. It is evident that there will be conduction and heat dissipation during the contact, that is why its materials must have a good resistance to wear and at least one of them must have a high coefficient of friction value. Considering the complexity of the project and the problems associated with clutches, the use of computational numerical simulation as a decision supporting tool allows a deep analysis of the behavior and efficiency of the mechanical system, as well as the evaluation of different variables on its performance. In this context, the present research presents a simulation model, developed in ANSYS software by the finite elements formulation, which seeks the analysis of associated stress in different materials in an automotive frictional clutch and makes comparison with other bibliographic models. The general guidelines for structuring this work will be technical literature regarding experimental data. Models presented and results are validated through the comparison with the experimental ones reported in the literature.
