Resumo

The context of modern work, increasingly exigent and complex, can expose workers to possible frustrations and conflicts. That is, there is the possibility that these workers develop stress at advanced levels, which may provoke mental disorders and impact their productivity and quality of life. Therefore, depends on managers to promote health and safety at work by identifying and combating stress-related work environment factors. In this perspective, the research has focused on investigating the work context and its relationship with the influence of stress on workers in an agricultural company. This is a case study with a descriptive and quantitative approach and with a transversal temporal cut. The data collection was made using a form with a sample of 125 workers. To measure the variables, The Assessment Scale of Work Context (ASWC), created by Ferreira and Mendes (2003), and the Lipp's Inventory of Stress Symptoms for Adults (ISSL), developed by Marilda N. Lipp (2000) were used. The results revealed that certain personal variables were related to the perception of the work context and the levels of stress. It was also proved that there was a correlation between the perception of the work context and the level of stress.
