Levantamento participativo da infraestrutura do saneamento básico do município de José da Penha/RN

The access to basic sanitation is an essential human right. It is imperative the construction of sanitation systems that attend the population, because the selective waste collection the treatment of sanitary sewage, the access to potable water, and the controlled paving and urbanization are factors that affect directly in the life quality of the population. This work had the objective of accomplish the participatory survey of the conditions of basic sanitation in José da Penha/RN. The methodology consist in the data collect provided by responsible instituitions (Companhia de Águas e Esgoto do Rio Grande do Norte - CAERN and Prefeitura Municipal de José da Penha - PMJP), as well as, by population and sanitation service providers. It was used questionnaires, technical visits, pictures to prove determinate specific situations, documentary research and explanatory research with theoretical basis. The study presents a description and evaluation of the current situation of the infrastructure and provision of services of basic sanitation in José da Penha/RN. After the data analysis, it was possible to verify some disabilities in relation to attendance to population by sanitation systems, evidencing difficulties in the basic questions of infrastructure and unhealthy living conditions, both in the urban and rural area. Based in this, it was proposed alternatives to improve in the components of water, sewers, solid waste and rain drenage, of manner to collaborate with development of city. The results of this research may to be used in the elaboration of the Municipal Sanitation Plan.
