Abstract

Over time it was believed that the exhaust system of an internal combustion engine had the sole function of releasing combustion gases. However, recent studies show that this system is vitally important for increasing volumetric efficiency until injection control, where these parameters are some that directly influence vehicle consumption. These are some of the reasons why it is important to study a good sizing of the exhaust system, because with the well elaborated exhaust the engine can work in an exemplary way. The well designed exhaust system itself extends its own service life as it is a system that suffers from the great effect of corrosion due to gases that circulate at elevated temperatures and many other interferences that can lead to erosive chemical actions. of the metallic material that make up the system. Through bibliographies and computer simulations of fluid dynamics, it was possible to obtain a better knowledge of which geometry is the most suitable for the best control of automotive consumption.
