Abstract

The development of a biosensor for monitoring the early stages (stages 1 and 2) of pressure injuries/ulcers in the decubitus region (injuries/decubitus ulcers) in hospitalized patients with limited movement to aid in medical decision making is discussed in this work, focusing on the use of e-textile technologies, IoHT, WBAN and microstrip antenna with textile substrate. The stage preceding the development of the system took place by the mechanical and electrical characterization of a mesh-like textile material, to be used as the sensor installation structure for the developed monitoring device and as a substrate for the microstrip antenna. In accordance with technical standards, tests of washing strength, tensile and tear resistance, weight measurement and visualization of the physical structure of the textile material were carried out, in addition, using the coaxial probe technique, the parameters of electrical permittivity and loss tangent of the textile material. From the variables of interest for monitoring, temperature and compression time in the decubitus region in a volunteer, a selection of sensors was made to incorporate the monitoring device. A microstrip antenna with textile substrate, made with the characterized material, was used to transmit the data captured by the sensors. The sensor management device used was a Wemos D1 mini PRO that uses the ESP 8266 microcontroller. The medical monitoring tool was built and verified experimentally regarding its performance. A volunteer used the belt and the data could be monitored remotely using an authorized mobile device, and it is also possible to export the monitored data to an e-mail account, making it possible to further analyze and study the evolutionary characteristics of the monitored variables. The device proved to be applicable in the development of technologies to assist in medical decision-making
