Abstract
The shellfish (Anomalocardia brasiliana) have no significant commercial value and have as a complicating factor the concavity of their parts, which can contribute heavily to the storage of rainwater, and consequent breeding of the gnat Aedes Aegypti, a disease transmitter. The main objective of this work is to present as a proposal for the disposal of this residue, the partial substitution of feldspar by CaO, resulting from the residue shell of calcined shellfish. And the reuse is increasingly a good solution, especially when the waste is incorporated in the processing route of some product acquiring commercial value. Four ceramic masses (MC), for the kaolin-feldspar-quartz system, will be prepared for dental purposes, and the other three with 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5% by mass - all granulometry # -200 mesh. Results of XRD, EDS, EDX analysis and properties such as modulus of elasticity (E), water absorption (AA), linear retraction (RL) and apparent density (ρap) determined for the maximum sintering temperature of 1100° C. The results should show that the residue can be used as an alternative raw material for the production of dental ceramics, which contributes to the increase in the magnitude of the properties measured in relation to standard MC.
