The water supply system must provide water of sufficient quality and quantity to meet the needs of the population. So, to ensure that the water supplied is in good quality, it must meet the potability standard established by Ordinance No. 2914/2011 of the Ministry of Health. This work proposes the evaluation of the water quality available in drinking fountains of the Federal Rural University of the Semi-Arid – Campys Caraúbas, through physical and chemical parameters, as well as a comparison with mineral water marketed. The samples were collected in university drinking fountains and the parameters of electrical conductivity, turbidity, pH, chloride and sodium were analyzed in the laboratory. The results found make sure that all drinking fountains are providing good quality water to users and don’t offer health risks. Besides that, it’s advisable to consume this water, because some parameters of the analyzed mineral waters didn’t meet the required by the standard of potability.
